Lake Tahoe Nevada scenic byway

Getting here

Reno is the clean fly-in; the last miles belong to the mountains.

Use Reno for the simplest airport arrival, Sacramento when flights win, and build winter drives around chain controls, daylight, and where you plan to sleep.

Arrival map

Reno is the clean fly-in. Incline Village and Sand Harbor shape the final miles.

Use Reno-Tahoe International for the easiest Nevada-side arrival, then choose Incline Village for Sand Harbor and the East Shore. Sacramento can work when flights are better, while Stateline and Zephyr Cove belong to a south-shore-shaped trip.

  • Tap a marker to see how each arrival point changes the Tahoe plan.
  • Solid line is the Reno / Mt. Rose approach; dashed lines are useful alternates that depend on weather and traffic.

Reno-Tahoe International

The practical choice for Incline Village, Crystal Bay, Mt. Rose, and most Nevada-side stays. In clear conditions the drive is short enough to make a two-night trip feel reasonable.

Sacramento and Bay Area

Useful for broader flight options or California road trips, but weekend traffic and winter controls can turn a pretty drive into the main event.

Winter road check

Before ski days, check NDOT/Caltrans road status, carry the right traction gear, and avoid late-night mountain arrivals when snow is moving through.
